Patrick Herman is a former goalie born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. He played his minor hockey in the MTHL (Metro Toronto Hockey League) and later began his junior career at 16 with the Richmond Hill Riot of the old Metro Junior A Hockey League. After 4 seasons of junior hockey he played 2 seasons with the Simcoe Gunners of the Ontario Senior League. He then moved on to play hockey at the University of Waterloo while attaining a Bachelor of Arts degree. He jokingly refers to himself as having the most prolific career for a professional player without having played a game. Though having signed several contracts he never made it into a game.
Patrick is also a pioneering goaltender in roller hockey having taken up the sport at 15 in 1993. He has many accomplishments ranging from MVP’s to national and international Gold and Silver medals.
His coaching career began in 1992 as goalie coach for the Toronto Marlies AAA minor atom team where his efforts helped his goalies give up the 2nd fewest total goals in the entire MTHL (2nd only to his own bantam Mississauga Senators team). Over the years he has continued to coach and consult teams and continues to give back to the sport and position of goaltending.
